Biography
Jörg F. Unger is working at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) in Berlin, Germany. He is the head of division 7.7 "Modeling and simulation", working on computational mechanics for concrete and concrete structures with a focus on additive manufacturing, the concept of digital twins including data management, reproducible scientific workflows and Bayesian inference procedures for uncertainty quantification as well as well as reduced order models to improve the computational efficiency for real-time computation.
He completed is Diploma (2004) and PhD(2009) in civil engineering at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar in 2009 with a focus on mesoscale modeling of concrete and the solution of inverse problems using neural networks, Afterwards, he joined Northwestern University as a DFG-PostDoc fellow working on multiscale models for the simulation of concrete cracking.
